God on a Budget

Recently, I took my mom to a new neurologist. My mom asks every doctor she sees for a pill to give her energy. The new neuro advised her wisely, "Budget your energy". She said to restrict unnecessary tasks and save energy for the things you really want to do. Now, that sounds very familiar to me. I've budgeted my steps, for as long as I can remember, to conserve energy to simply "walk" through the day.

Every human budgets or restricts something, because we feel we won't have enough. Time and money are two very popular budget items. As I pondered budgeting, I wondered if I restrict God like any other old budget line item. Do I have God on a budget? Good question. There's really no need to budget or limit God. He's God! There is certainly enough of him to go around. Suddenly, the thought of restricting God in my life is spooky scary. And, do I restrict God on purpose, knowingly? I'm sure I do.

Have you ever thought you bothered God too much or used too much of his power, mercy and grace. God never runs out of our most coveted commodities; time and money. He has possession of everything we will ever need or want. Psalm 90:1-2 KJV. LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place In all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

God is eternal and infinite. We can plan on his always available, unlimited supply of Awesome!
No budgeting required...
