Adding Faith to Your "To-Do" List

to-do list

Have you thought about adding Faith to your To-Do List? Don't worry. I had not either until this week. I began to think about lists. I'm a housewife and STILL make a list of everything I need to do and mostly, the things I want to do! I get frustrated and anxious when my list is long and growing instead of completed and shortening. I used to be a boss at getting things done. The satisfaction of checking things off my list was empowering! I'm counting those check marks as exercise because I think I produced a few endorphins!

As I thought about lists in my alone time with God, he shared something inspiring. He gave us a to-do list when Moses brought the Ten Commandments down from the mountain. I can remember all 10 some days and other days, I struggle. But God, knowing our human brains are forgetful and our minds stay hurried, he shortened our list to only two commandments! Sweet! I think I may remember only two. Matthew 22:37-39 holds these truths.Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy should and with all thy mind. Love thy neighbour as thyself.

Nowadays, with two commandments, the satisfaction of checking things off my to-do list comes from a different place. I try my best to do "his" list first. I've learned to allow God to create my daily list (while I'm showering, of course). Then, if there's any time or any Tammy left, I get to my stuff. Psalm 37:23 reminds us, The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he deligheth in his way. God's to-do list creates joy in my tasks. When I put God first, I forget about my stuff, even if they are still pending tomorrow and the next day and the next...

What's on your list today? I hope all the "God things" are first! The God things are the Good things!
